Children’s Dentistry
Walkerston Dental is a very child-friendly practice and we all love seeing kids. Our experienced and very gentle dental team takes extensive care when seeing young children to ensure they feel relaxed and comfortable during their visit and we will go out of our way to make sure your child enjoys a positive experience at every visit. We are very good at helping to soothe a nervous or anxious child. We have seen very anxious kids overcome their fear and get the necessary treatment in the chair with gentle encouragement and positive reinforcements. Please talk to us if your child is at all worried about coming to see us so we can help them overcome any fears. We also offer treatment under General Anaesthetic at the Mater Hospital for children who just cant cope with treatment in the chair.
Our focus is on preventative dentistry which is why we like to see young children from an early age. The sooner we can develop a regular routine of good professional dental care and good oral care at home, the greater the chance of your child being able to enjoy a healthy smile for life.
The Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS)
Up to $1,052 of treatment over 2 consecutive calendar years
Medicare provides funding for children’s basic dental services. Dental services are capped at $1,052 over 2 consecutive calendar years. Please call our practice for more information.
To get this your child must be all of the following:
- 0 to 17 years old for at least one day that calendar year
- eligible for Medicare
- getting a payment from us at least once a year, or have a parent getting a payment from us at least once a year.
